The location of Spaceport Malaysia will be Bernam Jaya, Selangor, 80km to the north of Kuala Lumpur. The site is adjacent to the North-South highway and will be equipped with a 4km runway and is being developed by Selangor State Development Corporation, an agency of Selangor state government and the biggest property developer in the country.
The first facility to be built at the site will be a space biotechnology laboratory to be operated by the Institute of Anatomy of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. The laboratory will also be equipped with an astronaut gallery to be operated by the Malaysian astronaut, Dato' Sheikh Muszaphar Syukor. 2 prominent nearby facilities are Sultan Idris Teaching University and Proton (National Car) City. |
